'A murder investigation has been launched after an American mother was stabbed to death during a clash with a burqa-clad 'woman' in shopping mall toilets in Abu Dhabi.

 

The 37-year-old kindergarten teacher, who has 11-year-old twin boys, was stabbed with a knife in the altercation in the ladies' toilets a supermarket in Boutik Mall on Reem island in the United Arab Emirates capital.

 

She was taken to be treated at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City but died later from her injuries in the incident on Monday afternoon…

 

Police say they do not know if it was a woman or a man in the burqa.

'Two people were injured in a stabbing attack in the Mishor Adumim industrial zone on Wednesday afternoon.

 

The attack occurred in the Rami Levy supermarket. Mishor Adumim is situated just east of Jerusalem.

 

One of the injured is an MDA paramedic. The victims were in moderate condition and were transported to Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem with wounds to the upper body. The injured Israelis are in their fifties. Avi Levberg, a paramedic with United Hatzala said that the two people were shopping when they were attacked.

 

Security forces were searching the area and said the terrorist was shot in the legs by an off duty security guard and was in light to moderate condition.'

'First, a 20-year-old Israeli soldier was stabbed Monday in Tel Aviv. Then, three Israelis were stabbed at a hitchhiking post near the entrance to a settlement in the West Bank, police said.

 

One of the three, a 24-year-old woman, was killed, emergency services said. The soldier stabbed earlier also died of his wounds, according to the Israel Defense Forces.'

Great to finally hear, but I wish it would have been sooner than 13 years after 9-11.

 

'King Abdullah has been pressing clerics to publicly condemn Islamic extremist groups since the government made it illegal for citizens to fight in conflicts abroad. Clerics who do not condemn terrorism in traditional Friday sermons could face penalties, such as having their licenses to preach revoked.

 

Local media have reported that the Saudi Interior Ministry may require clerics to pass a security screening before they can preach, and that around 3,500 clerics in Saudi Arabia have been dismissed since 2003 for their sermons.

 

The Islamic State group's advances in Iraq and Syria have heightened security concerns in neighboring countries like Saudi Arabia. They have also prompted a number of articles and discussions in the local press about how to confront the spread of "Takfiri" ideology, which shuns anyone who does not adhere to a stringent interpretation of Islam. Saudi Arabia follows a puritanical interpretation of Islam known as Wahhabism.

 

A decade ago, al-Qaida militants launched a string of attacks in the kingdom aimed at toppling the monarchy. A fierce crackdown by Saudi Arabia's security services forced many militants to flee to neighboring Yemen, which now has one of the world's most active al-Qaida branches.

 

Over the past two days, a court in the capital, Riyadh, has sentenced 31 people for their involvement in those attacks, sentencing three to death and the rest to prison. All will be allowed to appeal the verdict.'

'A pregnant 27-year-old Sudanese woman was sentenced to death by hanging Thursday for apostasy after marrying a Christian man and refusing to convert to Islam. Mariam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag also faces charges of adultery.

 

Ibrahim, who was born to a Muslim father but raised Orthodox Christian by her mother, was first sentenced on Sunday, but she was given until Thursday to change her mind and convert. She refused to do so, Al Jazeera reports.

 

"I am a Christian and I never committed apostasy," Ibrahim said.

 

Ibrahim was found guilty of apostasy — the abandonment of one's religious faith – because she was born to a Muslim father and married a Christian man. The adultery charge came as Islamic law prohibits Muslim women from marrying outside of their religion, a rule which effectively voided the marriage.

 

The death sentence will reportedly be carried out after Ibrahim gives birth.'
